How to Distinguish Cables Voltage Levels

According to the use of different, they can choose power cables, overhead insulated cables, control cables, etc .

According to the different conditions of laying, we can choose the general plastic insulated cable, steel armored cable, steel armored cable, anti - corrosion cable;

According to the safety requirements, can choose non-flame retardant cable, flame retardant cable, halogen-free flame retardant cable, fire-resistant cable.

First, view the section. The cable is the innermost conductive core (for the copper core or aluminum core), followed by outward: insulation, semi-conductive layer, shielding layer, filling layer, steel Kai protective layer, rubber protective layer (water blocking).

Determine the use of wire and cable specifications (conductor cross-section), the general should consider the heat, voltage loss, economic current density, mechanical strength and other selection conditions.

According to experience, low-voltage power line because of its large load current, it is generally the first choice according to heat conditions cross-section, and then check the voltage loss and mechanical strength; low-voltage lighting line because of its higher voltage level requirements, Select the cross-section, and then check the heat conditions and mechanical strength; for high-voltage lines, the first by the economic current density selection section, and then check the heat conditions and allow the voltage loss; and high-voltage overhead lines, but also check its mechanical strength.

Second, look at the insulation layer thickness:

Third, check the voltage registration. Above the drawings will generally have YJV-1KV-4 * 150 or YJV-10KV-4 * 150 and so on these voltage levels.

Cable is divided the habitate according to the voltage level :

1) weak cable: 450 / 750V and below;

2) Low voltage cable: 0.6 / 1kV;

3) Medium voltage cable: 3-35kV;

4) high voltage cable: 35-110kv;

5) high voltage cable: 110-750kV.
