Are THHN And THWN The Same Wire?
The “THHN” portion of THHN cables stands for “Thermoplastic High Heat Resistant Nylon Coating”. “THWN” cables have the same characteristics, but the ‘W’ letters in THWN refer to ‘water resistance. ’The main difference between THHN and THWN cables is their maximum recommended operating temperature in wet locations.

Conductor: Multi-strand flexible annealed copper, ASTM B8 Class B
Insulation: PVC & nylon coated
Stranding: Triple/multiple insulated conductors filled with filler, and nylon ripcord on the inside of the jacket for easy stripping
Sheath: LSOH
THHN/ PVC TC These cables are usually used in industrial environments for supplying power to electrical machinery and equipment, and are mainly installed in cable racks and ducts, or can be buried directly.

THHN/THWN 600V Class TC Control Cable
Conductor: Multi-strand flexible annealed copper, ASTM B8 Class B
Insulation: PVC & Nylon coated
Kāleka: Heat, moisture, and sunlight-resistant PVC
These TC control cables are mainly used in industrial power control circuits where small diameter and flame retardant features are required. They are commonly used in dry environments where the temperature does not exceed 90°C. Conductor temperatures up to 130°C under emergency load conditions and 250 °C under circuit conditions.

Type THHN/THWN conductors, installed through conduit, are suitable for service in commercial/industrial systems, feeder, and branch circuit wiring. Category MTW cables are suitable for use in humid environments, with temperatures not exceeding 60°C in oil/coolant.
