In juni 24, 2022, een nieuw onderzees kabelonderhoudsvaartuig, Eiland Molène, werd met succes gelanceerd in Calais, Frankrijk, en zal lid worden van de ASN (Alcatel Submarine Network) vloot.
ASN-voorzitter Alain Biston en Nathalie Bouchart, burgemeester van Calais en vice-president van Hauts-de-France, woonde de inauguratieceremonie bij.
Er werd onthuld dat Ile de Molène verantwoordelijk zal zijn voor het onderhoud van de onderzeese telecommunicatiekabel for Alcatel Submarine Networks’ customers.
Het zal operationeel zijn tegen het einde van het tweede kwartaal van 2022.
The vessel has undergone a major engineering and upgrade program to enable it to best meet its future maintenance mission and the various needs of ASN’s customers.
